The Earth is what we all have in common

As a DMC based in the sensitive Arctic region, we take the sustainability issues seriously.

One of our most important sustainability actions is building a trusted partner network that aligns with clear values and principles everybody is committed to. Many of our products focus on highlighting Arctic nature and northern ways of life, which makes responsible planning essential in order to avoid negative impacts on the environment and local communities, including the indigenous Sámi culture.

Over the years, an extensive cooperation network has been built to ensure responsible operations across all services. Our accommodation partners are predominantly environmentally certified hotels, while dining experiences prioritize locally sourced, seasonal ingredients that support small-scale producers and reduce food miles.

Our safari tours are delivered by educated guides, ensuring accurate interpretation of local culture and nature as well as high safety standards. Transportation-related emissions are addressed through route optimization and cooperation with transport providers operating modern, low-emission vehicle fleets that meet or exceed current environmental standards. Nature-based activities always follow official guidelines for protected areas, with limited group sizes, use of marked trails, and measures to prevent disturbance to wildlife and sensitive ecosystems.

What we have done so far:

  • Certified sustainability level: Good Travel Seal – Silver (Level 2) and Sustainable Travel Finland -label

  • Accommodation: around 90% of key hotel partners in Lapland hold recognized environmental certifications

  • Guides: all guided services are delivered by professional guides to ensure safety and accurate interpretation

  • Transport: preference for modern low-emission vehicles operated by experienced, safety-focused, and professionally trained drivers

  • Nature protection: nature-based activities follow official guidelines for protected areas and biodiversity protection, with eco-certified providers used where applicable

  • Animal welfare: cooperation with husky and reindeer providers committed to high animal welfare standards and responsible operating practices

  • Food & dining: itineraries prioritize locally sourced, seasonal ingredients and cooperation with small-scale local producer

  • Waste reduction: avoidance of single-use plastics and consistent waste sorting in office operations

  • Water use: minimal direct consumption, with preference given to certified suppliers applying documented water-saving measures

  • Safety & compliance: full compliance with Finnish labor, safety, environmental, and data protection legislation

  • Accessibility: wheelchair-accessible tours available on request across all destinations in Finland

Our future development plan includes on strengthening climate-adaptive product design, and progressing toward higher certification levels. Stay tuned!
